William Regal and Tajiri walked into the Backlash 2005 premium live event as World Tag Team Champions. In order to walk out as champions, however, they would have to beat four of Raw’s top teams. Regal and Tajiri were successful in turning back The Heart Throbs and Maven & Simon Dean at the Backlash Tag Team Turmoil match. Unfortunately for Regal and Tajiri, however, they lost to La Resistance—leaving La Resistance and the team of The Hurricane & Rosey as the final two teams in the Tag Team Turmoil match. In the end, it was The Hurricane and Rosey coming out on top.

After almost five months as champions, The Hurricane and Rosey lost their title gold to Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch at Unforgiven 2005.
