La Resistance defeated Edge and Chris Benoit for the World Tag Team Championship in May, but they would end up being the same team they would lose the belts back to almost five months later at Taboo Tuesday. Benoit and Edge were on much different terms this time around, however. Edge and Benoit lost out in the fan voting to Shawn Michaels for a World Heavyweight Championship shot, so they were given a World Tag Team Championship shot instead. Benoit and Edge didn’t get along but they tried to put their differences aside and win the titles. During the match, Edge abandoned Benoit, but the Rabid Wolverine was able to take out La Resistance on his own giving the duo the titles. The win gave Edge a record-breaking eleventh World Tag Team Championship, and it was Benoit’s fourth. The dissesnion between the two, however, led to their demise a couple of weeks later when Edge abandoned Benoit again, and this time La Resistance would not be denied.
