In the inaugural WrestleMania, Iron Sheik & Nikolai Volkoff challenged the U.S. Express, Barry Windham and Mike Rotundo, for the World Tag Team Championship. The U.S. Express were in the midst of their first tag title reign and were the heavy favorites heading into the extravaganza. After The Iron Sheik broke up an attempted pin by Windham, all four men started brawling in the ring. As the referee tried to restore order, The Iron Sheik took his manager “Classie” Freddie Blassie’s cane and struck Windham with it. Volkoff fell on top of him for the pinfall and the duo’s only World Tag Team Championship.
