The Basham Brothers won a Fatal Four-Way elimination match on the January 13 edition of SmackDown, ending the reign of Rey Mysterio & Rob Van Dam. Mysterio invoked his rematch clause at No Way Out; with RVD injured, Rey named Eddie Guerrero as his new partner. After Rey stopped Eddie from using the WWE Tag Team Championship belt as a weapon once, he finally gave in to the idea. With the referee distracted, Latino Heat nailed Doug Basham with the title belt and pinned him to claim the victory.
