After being fired by “acting” SmackDown general manger Vickie Guerrero, Edge’s hopes looked bleak for regaining the World Heavyweight Championship, or even stepping foot in a WWE ring. That was until SmackDown general manager Theodore Long returned to duty, rehired Edge, and arranged for a World Heavyweight Championship match with Dolph Ziggler. After Edge claimed his eleventh world title with a spear, Long added insult to injury by firing Ziggler.
