The flamboyant Lenny Lane defeated Rey Mysterio for the Cruiserweight Championship in Lubbock, Texas in August 1999. The victory appeared to be just what Lane needed to boost his career into overdrive. But then out of nowhere, WCW stripped Lane of the Cruiserweight Championship without ever giving an explanation. In an equally baffling move, WCW then gave the title to Psychosis—again, without offering explanation.
